About Us
Bakersfield Youth Fine Arts Academy (BYFA) is an organization that specializes in the education of youth in the visual and performing arts and the enrichment of our community through live performances. Due to lack of funding, fine arts programs are generally the first to be eliminated from many schools' standard learning curriculum. BYFA's primary goal is to fill that void. In a technology driven age, BYFA has a strong conviction to keep the soul of the arts alive by offering it to the future...our children. The enrichment of our children in the arts has benefits of improving acting, singing, dancing, painting, drawing and sculpting skills. However, the most fundamental benefits of studying the fine arts are promoting creativity, gaining social skills by working in teams, building self-confidence and encouraging individuality in self-expression. BYFA views these benefits as invaluable assets to mold children into well-rounded, successful adults.
2025 Broadway Musical Summer Workshop Disney’s Frozen Jr.!
Enroll now in our 2025 Broadway Musical Summer Workshop!! It is a four week summer singing/acting/dancing workshop that culminates into a professional big-stage production of a Broadway show taught by nationally and internationally trained instructors from Bakersfield and Los Angeles. Students will learn the auditioning process, vocal techniques, acting skills and choreography…and at break time we swim and snack! Our show this year is Disney’s Frozen Jr. !
Dates for this will run June 2 -June 28…Mon.- Fri.
There are two sessions to choose from:
AM SESSION Mon-Fri. 9-12pm (Performances June 27 7pm & June 28 2pm)
Or
PM SESSION Mon-Fri. 1-4pm (Performances June 26 7pm & June 28 7pm)
We accept ages 5-18 years. Tuition is $390 per student (costume rental, show tshirt and two comp tickets included).
For the first 3 weeks of rehearsals, location is a private residence in the Stockdale area. The address will be given out once student is registered and paid in full. For the last week of workshop we will move into West High School’s auditorium and add the big stage, costumes, make-up, sets, lights and body mics! Performances will be June 26, 27 & 28.
Our summer workshop is an absolutely extraordinary experience that your child will never forget. We watch our students learn, grow and gain confidence that will stay with them their entire lifetimes. It is a truly magical experience!

DISNEY'S Frozen Jr. is presented through special arrangement with Musical Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
