About us
Bakersfield Youth Fine Arts Academy (BYFA) is an organization that specializes in the education of youth in the visual and performing arts and the enrichment of our community through live performances. Due to lack of funding, fine arts programs are generally the first to be eliminated from many schools’ standard learning curriculum. BYFA’s primary goal is to fill that void. In a technology driven age, BYFA has a strong conviction to keep the soul of the arts alive by offering it to the future…our children. The enrichment of our children in the visual and performing arts has benefits of improving the skills of acting, singing, dancing, painting, drawing and sculpting. However, the most fundamental benefits of studying the fine arts are promoting creativity, gaining social skills by working in teams, building self-confidence and encouraging individuality in self-expression. BYFA views these benefits as invaluable assets to mold children into becoming successful adults.

One Day Pop-Up Workshop in February 2025
Gimmee Music!
We are so excited to offer a "one day" pop-up workshop on Sat., Feb 22, 2025! "Gimmee Music" is a performing arts workshop that will focus on instruction in vocal techniques, performing techniques, music reading skills, keyboard skills and music theory. Amber O'Reilly and Natalie Espinoza are our instructors for this course and they can't wait to share their experience and knowledge with kids of all ages. All levels of learners are welcome...from novice to experienced musicians/performers. There are 2 schedules to choose from:
AM SESSION 9-12pm ages 6-11 or
PM SESSION 1-4pm ages 12-18
Workshop costs $100 per student.
